I love the greenery.. but will I kill it?

Over the past few years I have tried and killed many probably very common houseplants. I know they are great to look at and are beneficial to the air we breath but what is the trick? Yesterday I joined my mother to a garden center where we browsed hundreds of different indoor and outdoor plants, and she without worry purchased quite a few, me on the other hand got a hanging basket and two small perennials. I’m afraid to spend alot of money for fear of killing another plant. Also with my few new responsibilities I purchased the book “You Grow Girl” and visitied the website www.yougrowgirl.com
