..er, chair, and went and met someone in a pub. I didn’t really want to, but now I’m so glad I did! Not only did I have a really nice chat with him, but I also discovered the beautiful Portsdown hill area and watched a magnificent sunset. I’ve never been to that area before, but it won’t be the last time!
I…
That last one wouldn’t normally be on a list of things I don’t want to do, but today I just didn’t feel like practising.
from ‘practice living with self-discipline’, to doing something I don’t want to do every day, as I think this is a more definite and concrete way to aim for the increased practice of self discipline.
I have my mother to thank, as it was she who used to tell me this when I was younger! I think it’s a good idea, and if I can do more than one thing I don’t want to do in a day, so much the better!
a swimming class, and worked really hard. I was totally exhausted by the end. For some reason, achieving that (simple thing though it was) made self-discipline in everything else that evening easy. I don’t know why physical effort could have such a powerful mental effect; but it was a good feeling.
Yay for swimming..

Edit: the picture is of the organ on which I practice—a Walker’s (in case all you would-be organists were interested).
by spending an hour thinking about the goals I want to achieve for next year, and by unpacking my suitcase.
I’m also going to go to bed at 9.30 exactly. :)
I figure that I need to break this goal down into shorter steps, or individual attempts, otherwise it’s too vague and hard to achieve.
So…my first mini-goal towards greater self-discipline is: to work for two hours solidly on my assignment today, and to go to bed at 10pm. Will report :)
