Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Lose 70 pounds

Hell Yeah!

Today, I am officially under 230 lbs. I feel better than I have in a long time and my clothes are starting to actually look good on me. There’s no way I’m stopping now!

Slow, but still going..

I’m up to 23 lbs. lost since starting over. I’m so excited. I’m four pounds away from getting under 230, which I haven’t been at for many many years. I have a friend that walks almost 3 miles a day with me. We keep each other on our toes, and so far it’s working great for both of us. I’m getting into my smaller clothes and everyone is really noticing the difference. My goal is to get into the jeans my mom left. I haven’t worn jeans that small since my daughter was born. (she is 18 this year) So it will be a wonderful feeling if I can do it. Not to mention, a whole new wardrobe free of charge. LOL.

Starting over

I haven’t worked on this goal since 2006. I’m still down quite a bit from where I originally started, but since it’s been so long, I think it’s best to start this one over again. My actual goal is to lose 50 lbs, but I’d like to keep this goal of 70 lbs, because I really think I can do it and it would put me at an ideal weight for me. I’m down almost 10 lbs right now and still going strong. I can actually see the finish line this time and know I can do it. The difference, this time I’m not doing it on my own. I have a few friends doing it with me and motivating me every step of the way. I can do this!!

Moving onto this goal, now.

I finally made my 60 pound goal! So I am working on this one now. I really need to lose another 20-30 pounds by spring. My brother is getting married in May, and I did something that is out of character for me. I bought a dress for the wedding, but I need to lose that 20-30 pounds to get into it. (it was very inexpensive, so I’m not totally stupid! LOL) So I have to work my butt off to get it done! Wish me luck!

Almost there!!

I am within 1/2 lb. of 235lbs. which will put me halfway to my total goal, and only 15 pounds away from this goal! I have to do a lot of yard work all weekend, so I’m hoping that will be what pushes me over that mark!

Closing in!

I’m down to 237lbs. today, which puts me at 53lbs. lost! I am hoping to get down to 235 this week, which will put me halfway to my total goal!

Dawn has gotten 8 cheers on this goal.
