I sent a letter of love & friendship to someone who is very lonely. I haven’t gotten much response, but I am going to periodically drop them a line to let them know that I am here for them. I don’t know this person but I know how it feels to be alone.

Hubby got a new job working for the man. While out today I decided to surprise him & got him some things for his new desk at work. He was very touched by it. I told him that I am proud of him. While out, I also got my friend a frog that I am painting for her to sit on her puter since she loves the slimy things. :-) I also got a tiny cross stitch thing for her. I have always wanted to try it & decided to start small. I am lost so far! It is alot harder than I thought.

A few days ago I bought my Mom a bouquet of pink carnations, a card & a care bear balloon “just because I love her & to congratulate her for not smoking” this long. If you want to see your Mom’s face light up like you have never seen, do something like this for her. I felt so gooooood after doing this & seeing how happy it made her that I couldn’t help but smile the rest of the day. I like the saying that you shouldn’t wait until the funeral to send flowers & it is true.

I sat out a bag of food for the mailman to take on the hunger drive with him recently. I hope it helps a family… The feeling I get from helping makes it worthwhile. And even if it was a small thing, everything adds up like waves on an ocean or ripples on a lake…

I gave $ to a hunger fund recently & everywhere I have been going, I have been smiling at the people that look the most unhappy & it is nice to see their face light up when they smile back at you. :) I also let others go before me & hold doors for people, but I’ve always done that, so that is no biggie.

I have a box of Equate stage 3 patches. I quit smoking & didn’t need the last step (box). The store won’t take them back for a refund, so I am going to give them to someone using patches instead of throwing them away. They cost about $30-40. Let me know if anyone wants them.

I’ve been posting to people on their blogs & sending emails to cheer people up that were having problems & to let them know that they are not alone in this world.

I have saved some CD’s that came with my patches. They give advice on quitting smoking, a little soothing music & info about the patches. I was going to throw them away then I thought, why waste them like that & I could see if anyone wanted them. If there is anyone who wants them, (Have 2 so far) drop me a line & I’ll mail you one. Everyone have a wonderful afternoon! :)

I didn’t get a chance to give the pepperoni Ziti to the fam yesterday, so I did today. I also gave this Rodney Dangerfield talking puppet thing to my Brother that was my Dad’s. He had been wanting it for awhile & I am trying to get rid of stuff as part of being a buddhist through non-attachment. I am learning to let go of the importance of ‘things’ & just strive to make others happy. My Brother was very happy when I took it to him & that made me feel really good.

I think what makes the acts count even more is your intention behind them when you do it. Are you doing it for some selfish reason or for truely the act of doing something nice for others? I believe every act decreases our karmic debt. Today I am giving some of the food that I made the other day, from a receipe (pepperoni Ziti-yummy!) to my Mother & Brother, so that they can try it. I like to see my family happy…”Don’t wait until the funeral to give flowers” :-)
