Will there be accidents. Ha. Yes.
But we went to the park today sans diaper with no problem. He’s getting better at warning all the time.
If there’s a regression, I’ll throw myself back in, but right now, the only problem we have is that we spend 20 minutes doing the business before bedtime.
I can live with that.
Happy day! Say goodbye, diaper genie!

Went about our usual busy Monday morning trips without at pullup and made it home dry. Yay!
He still gets very annoyed at being asked to try but usually does have a need when you get him there. He does say when he needs to go but since that is about a minute’s warning before pee is actually leaving the body, it’s better to be preemptive.
And today – dry in underpants at school. He told the teacher when he needed to go and got there in time once, and once just went off his own self.
Such a big boy.
Barring regression, we’re getting near done on this.

It’s improving daily although he is really fighting the idea of going and trying before his body says, “Pee now.”
Turns out he’s really too big for the 3T underpants and for the pullups – if the idea is to be able to pull them down himself quickly. Need more 4T obviously.
Staying dry most of the day – even when in pullups.
And he told the teachers twice he needed to go while at school today and I’ve been encouraged to send him in real underpants as soon as he’s in the mood.
Whoop!

3 different accidents. “Mommy, I need to pee.” Um, honey, you just did.
Realized this is because he’s wearing the underwear. We never have accidents when he’s naked but he’s used to if you’re clothed, pee freely. So he just goes – then remembers.
It’s a good thing I really don’t care about puddles and so on, otherwise this might be annoying. As it is, it’s just silly – though more laundry!

Completed without accident.
We did pull-ups for the market (because I am no idiot and was not going to 2 markets with a toddler who has about 1 minute between knowing it’s going to come and it coming!) and nap.
Actually, there was much more naked time than underpants time, but it all involves remembering not to pee on the floor. So, really, same thing.

in the endless hours we spend together by the toilet, I realized that the chum has only failed to use “the potty for poopins” once in the past 2 weeks.
I was impressed. The chum, being the chum, wanted a long discussion of the one exception, “Why did I not use the potty?” but I was firm on this as a wonderful big boy milestone.

prance around the house in his new Dora panties with Diego briefs on his head.
Not brave enough to try the cloth underwear in out the world, but I’ll get them on him at home and see what happens.
Does it make me a bad mother that the only real selling point I can think of is that when wearing cloth underpants, one can touch one’s penis better?

the thrill is passing. Very little peeing is being mentioned before hand. I asked him why and he said, “I don’t like the waiting.”
I think we need cloth underwear. Something to keep him interested?

So he’s essentially staying dry and clean now – when conscious.
He just needs to be asked if he needs to and he’s all over it. He’s telling us every time about poop and is even starting to say “I need to pee!” and before it’s too late.
Not quite sure what to do now. I expect that the thrill will fade soon and less tidy habits will occur – but am beginning talk of cloth underwear anyway.
And we’ve still got a ways to go before I’m happy with his grasp of the hygienic facets of this. Ick!

it’s a poop festival here! 3 times before nap today alone!
I’m not sure what to think or do now. I’m not even suggesting it, he’s just turning to us and saying, “I need to poop!” and then…. ta da!
It’s all very exciting and bizarre.
