When you think of a hip flask, what usually comes to mind is the cheap stainless steel crap that you find in head shops. This bothers me. A hip flask has so much potential as a beautiful piece of workmanship, and I’m sure there was a time when they were considered as such. Google searches will only come up with retailers selling expensive versions of the stainlesss steel design. The only place I’ve seen cool designs is on Ebay. Most the ones that catch my eye are vintage and from Germany. So I’m adding this to my list of things to do during my upcoming vacation there.
I want it to be small and simple and well made. I want to have some character, so I’m thinking—used. No emblazoned flaming skulls, nascar logos, confederate flags or tazmanian devils please.
