learn to drive

My car is sitting on the street doing not very much. Apart from being run into that is. And being damaged by roadworks. I haven’t had money for lessons and my car battery is dead. So this one is probably shelved until bucketloads of money or a full time permanent job comes my way.

Well, I’ve moved to Melbourne. I was hoping to get my license before I left but I failed my driving test first time around. Ah well. I still drove down to Melbourne with my father as a copilot, my cat as a back seat driver and a car full of most necessary possessions including my computer and gaming consoles. Now that I’m in Melbourne I need a job for money for lessons. I also need a new car battery and I’ve just finished paying for all sorts of exciting permits and registration. So, we’re on hiatus until some money tumbles out of the sky.

I have my test booked for the 25th. I’m pretty sure I’m not ready. It would be great if I passed but I find it doubtful. My car is insured and registered and ready to go. If only I could get this gear shifting burnt into my brain. Then I could be driving around the countryside. It’s amazing just how well I can manage not to learn how to do this. Perhaps I’ll have to resort to rollerblades.

My driving instructor disappeared for a week. I’ve got lessons again next week but I feel like I’m getting nowhere. This isn’t going fast enough! Argh!

Well, it’s happening slowly… I now have a car all ready and waiting. I’m getting better with the lessons, but not confident enough to have lessons in my own car yet.

I had my second manual driving lesson on Friday. It didn’t go so well as the first but ended up ok. Sometimes it would be nice if you could just download this stuff into your brain.

I had my first manual lesson at 5:30am this morning! So early! It was a little nerve-wracking but I did ok… no bunny hopping and only stalled once. My instructor seems to think I did well though it’s a dual control car and it was disconcerting to have him take over a couple of times. There’s so much to think about, it’s hard to coordinate everything at once but I think I’ll get there.

So I’ve booked me a lesson driving manual for tomorrow morning far too horribly early. Hopefully I won’t be driving in my sleep. I really want to push this over soon because… I’m getting a car.

No access to a car or someone to teach me = no driving lessons. Maybe when I move and get a job I can afford to have lessons from a driving school again.

Have had another couple of lessons recently, after too long of a break. I need to get this done before my learners runs out again. I’m hoping to have it done in April… We’ll see.
