i went to the mall with my friend elle on friday because i was bored and happened to be in Peru picking up my second to last check from Menards.
we went to hot topic and came across a book that i had heard of.
it’s a book filled with postcards people send to this guy with their secrets on them. they decorate them accordingly, or not at all, and send them off.
it’s brilliant. some of them are so weird and hilarious that they really arent secrets, but they could be, like one, written plainly on a pink notecard:
“i recorded my cat meowing on a mini-cassette player and hid it in the library on play”
HAHAHAHAHAHA
but then others are very serious… they express deep things that are really tough to talk about. some people write in about being raped, or lost family members or loves, or terrible things they did in their past, apologies, and so on.
i told alice about it, and we thought we should send some in.
i really dont have any terrible deep secrets that i have never divulged, but there are things i havent ever really talked in depth about to people. and i think it’s ok, because what i have doesnd eat me away on the inside or anything. it’s just personal things i carry.
so i think i will make one.
the profits for the books go to keeping suicide help hotlines going, i believe.
