Well! I was able to pick 5 ripe cherry tomatoes to share on the camping trip this weekend! And I’ve got several peppers actually growing and NOT FALLING OFF!!! Hooray!!

my garden boxes are growing pretty well. My tomato plants are about 3-4 feet tall, but there’s LOTS of fruit on them! The cucumber vines are climbing like crazy. I’m going to have plenty to offer to my neighbors :)
HOWEVER,
my pepper plant seems to have some kind of disease. Once the blossoms are gone and the fruit starts to come in, all the branch forks turn black, and the fruits FALL OFF. Anyone ever had a similar problem? Any suggestions??
for the first year! All I grew were tomatoes and chives (and a bunch of flowers) but the tomatoes did really well!! If only our growing season here were longer…there were a ton of green tomats we had to pick to save them from frost. Can’t wait til next year…!!
So one of my tomato plants got too big for the stake I had it tied to, and it fell over a couple times with the wind this weekend. I realized it was time for decisive action! The mission: staying within a small budget ($0), create a support for the tomato plant on the porch. I used the two pieces of a curtain rod plus the original stake and wove wire around to build a tomato cage around the plant. It seems to be doing the trick! Can’t wait til more are ripe!
