The pile just keeps getting bigger!

Not much progress on this – too much television and study. Reading one I added to the pile at the moment “Let the Great World Spin” by Colum McCann. Not stoked with it so far.

Well, have read the Stieg Larsson and Love in a Cold Climate. Have just finished one not in the pile – Brief Lives by Anita Brookner, and before that, Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates. I started one or two things from the pile but they didn’t seem like the right thing. Must re-think the diversity of the pile!

Moved countries again so there is a new pile:

- Bowie in Berlin
- 2 Georgette Heyer books (have never read her; was a recommendation)
- Love in a Cold Climate – Nancy Mitford
- Florence Broadhurst illustrated biograhpy
- Dead Air – Iain Banks
- The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest
- an Angela Carter book
- Possession – AS Byatt

That should keep me busy for a while, especially now I don’t have an 80 minute round trip to and from work on the tube.

Since I've moved...

There’s new pile now. Only 2 books in it, thank god. London, by Peter Ackroyd. I keep dipping into it and then leaving it again. The facts and speculation about London’s history are really interesting but it’s not enough to keep me anticipating the next part.

The other book is the Dalai Lama’s The Art of Happiness, which I have been meaning to read forever.

Off the top of my head, there's...

The God of Small Things, about 3/4 through – excellent so far
The Agony and the Ecstasy, which is my mother’s favourite book and I keep meaning to read it, but never do
Something like “Constanzia and the Five Virgins” which I started but didn’t get into, but I think it has promise
Duckness, which looked cool in the second-hand bookshop, so I bought it
One I can’t remember the name of that Mum bought me for Christmas that looks cool but also heavy—> hard to read in bed so I’ll save it for holidays, if I ever get some again
A Robbie Williams biography that I bought for my sister but that she already had, so I kept it by default
A bunch of others…
