I’ve been on a real weight loss regimen and that makes veganism easier. Also, I have to keep reminding myself that I DO have money for good vegan food such as eggplant, mushrooms, seitan, etc and NOW I have a food processor!!! So it should be VERY easy to be a better vegan.

I was glad to have a smoothy today! Yesterday I ordered a tomato, onion and anchovie salad that was PHENOMENAL! I’m not too concerned about the rights of anchovies and such. STILL, I’d rather be vegan, SO, i was thinking that what I need, as a vegan, is a super salty, smokey, rich vegan meat analog. I think vegan bacon is positively boring but maybe i should try vegan peperoni or something. It’s the rich salty oilyness that my tastebuds respond to.
My garden is kicking in…we already have too many cucumbers and I just started picking them 4 days ago! I’ve been eating them raw and dipped in vegan dressing. Time for some recipes! Oh yeah…I’ve been blending them into smoothies too, which I REALLY love!
Cucumber vodka…hmmm…..
I eat meat at work. yuk. But it’s EVERYWHERE and it’s free and it tastes GREAT, whereas the only vegan stuff they have is a pretty miserable salad bar. Still free, but…
Even their “veggie burgers” aren’t vegan. That’s alright.I’ll get out of there soon. Sooooo, my home and REAL job veganity is great. My second job is a vegan disaster, but I’ll fix it.
So tonight I made some vegan mayo and it was GOOD! That will DEFINITELY help me be a better vegan since I can’t afford veganaise and I’ve been using creamy dressings and stuff. NO MORE!
THis is the recipe I used…

It’s cheap and easy and can be tailored to suit your taste. I’m SOOO FUCKING HAPPY!
I’ve been frying chicken in preperation for Easter and I’ve been actually trying a bite out of each batch.
It’s GOOD! I LOVE MEAT!
BUT, i don’t do more than eat a slice out of each batch just to make sure I cooked it ok.
As a matter of fact, now that I’ve done two experiments, and they both turned out, I don’t need to test them anymore.
Also, I fried my tofu in the butter and chicken fat that was left over in the bottom of the pan.
I also put my broccoli and cauliflower in the pan too.
NOT VEGAN.
Still, I could have given it to the dog, or thrown it out and used veggie oil. But no. I saved a little money, clogged a few arteries, and cooked my veggies in it. It was good. I DID give most of it to the dog, come to think of it. I just used the grease that lined the pan. Whatever. Not vegan.
Not vegan to fry a chicken for easter, either!
BUT…I want my family over and they won’t come if I don’t serve meat. I’m also serving vegan chili. Hopefully it’ll be good and THEN, at my next gathering, my family will come to more of a vegan thing. Not totally vegan though. Hell…even my BOYFRIEND eats tons of meat and he lives here.
Today I ate sweets that had non-vegan chocolate. However, I know that when I get home tonight I have Polenta and Daiya cheese and salsa and olives..
I also have Pesto that has cheese in it though.
Thats ok. a few things at a time.
One of my goals on this list is to make a good tasting vegan mayo. THAT will help me some.
Another goal is to garden a LOT, and THAT means making my OWN cheeseless pesto. YAY!
Baby steps to cut out the baby amounts of dairy.
Then, eventually, I’ll delve into the area of making my own vegan sweets that are affordable. (If I have to buy earth balance to make a good tasting frosting, I’ll go freakin’ broke) But it’ll all work out!
I live near some organic food places. Maybe I can purchase more vegan junk food to get me through my “need salt” and anxiety phases. It’d be cheaper than stopping for fast food anymore!!!
I LOVE where I’m living!
Mostly when I dine out with family and friends and I don’t feel like eating dry bread or passing on the pesto sauce or skipping the anchovies.
But still. It’s cheating. I ate a piece of mom’s cheese bread the other day. Ugh. It’s not the WORST, but I’d like to be a little bette. Really though, I’m not what I’d consider “bad”. Some creamy salad dressing. Actually, when it comes down to it, it’s the condiments and flavorings that I cheat on. Salad dressings, margerine, parmesan in the sauce…
Sometimes I’m coming from home and i can and do bring my own veganase and stuff. Most of the time though, I’m whizzing around the city and don’t have any emergency condiments.
I’m not being very vegan, but i DID go to a vegan potluck last Saturday and the food was AwesOME! Even CHAZ liked it! I have to learn to cook!
