For the first 1-41 books I posted the book with the cover, but I got lazy with updating 43 things =(. But Yay!!! I finally finished 50! This is the first time I’ve done it since I started this goal 4ish years ago. Definitely worth doing, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to do it again for a while.
Having many books ready on my bookshelf really helped me. I also became a goodreads.com member and posted all my updates there instead of here.
Here’s the rest of the list:
42-44. The Black Jewels Trilogy by Anne Bishop
45. Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami
46. Morality Play by Barry Umsworth
47. The Memory Keeper’s Daughter by Kim Edwards
48. Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom
49. Pygmalion by Bernard Shaw
50. Season of Passage by Christopher Pike

Every year I read at least one book that really sets me back time wise in terms of finishing 50 books in a year. This year’s book was Wolf Hall. I started this book in… July? And just finished. Thank goodness I had other books going because this book was SO slow and boring. Started it because an English student of mine wanted to read it, and forced myself to finish it even after my student gave up. Anyway, glad to be finished with it and onto better reads.
38. Percy Jackson and the Titan’s Curse
39. Percy Jackson and the Battle of the Labyrinth
40. Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian
by Rick Riordan
Loved the series and would like to read the next series set. Unfortunately, only one is published per year and it’s only on book two of the next series. Bah, I guess I’ll wait awhile to read more from Riordan.
I can see why so many people love it- the way that Tan connects the stories of 8 women is really amazingly written. Definitely keeping the book so that I can look at it again someday.
by Madeleine L’engle
Read in… 5th ish grade? But didn’t remember it at all.
It’s on a lot of “greatest books” lists so I figured I ought to give it another read. Really enjoyed it, and was surprised at how many Christian references were in the book.
by Brandon Sanderson
Read because Sanderson is my boyfriend’s favorite author. Liked it well enough, especially since I usually like fantasy novels. I just felt that there were a lot of moments that were too cliche and predictable. Would try another Sanderson book at some point!
by Edith Hamilton
I’ve been reading this on and off for the past year… shows how much I liked it. I like the individual stories, but the formatting and constant input of the author’s opinion was annoying.
Definitely want to pick up another book about mythology though- love norse and greek myths!
by Ann Brasheres
Literally just picked the first thing on my wish list from Amazon and ordered it haha. It was a good read and a very easy read, but the ending was blah. The author wants to make a sequel at some points, but this is two books I’ve read recently that have no closure. I really think authors should end books (even series) with a decent ending chapter.

So excited to see season 2 of game of thrones! If the second season follows the book as closely as the first season did, it’s gonna be AMAZING!
