Study is my only real commitment right now – sort of has to be. But I don’t want to give up on this goal, so I’m going to track the weeks I’m missing, and will come back to fill! So:
Week 1 – 8th Jan – done
Week 2 – done
3 – done
4 – done
5 – (half done)
6 – missed
7 – missed (19th feb)
8 – missed (26th feb)
9 – missed (4th march)
10 – missed (11th march)
11 (18th march)
Current progress: 4/10 = 40%

I need to know I’m making good progress with my coursework plus before I can give this much focus. I’m hoping it happens as more of a fun/relaxed thing than needing effort, otherwise it needs to pause for a bit – not giving up at all, though!

Sent!
I’m slightly amazed that I’m still here, not like me to stick to a habit for a whole three weeks! ;)
That said – also can’t believe it’s only been three weeks. Another 49 to find something to say…

I’m considering an additional challenge element to this, something to help spark those creative juices weekly. Nothing major, but I’m not at the point of following on with a single story – I’m using this as a start to explore a whole pile of beginnings. So, since I’m planning on jumping about I figure I might experiment: first/third – second?? – person narratives; different genres; maybe challenge myself to write the last 500 words rather than the two beginnings (?) so far. Maybe a themed set of weekly titles: spring through winter, perhaps, or colours or song titles?
Anyone care to join me?

Hah! I might not… but then, I might as well! ;)
Not entirely sure what it was, really: a blunt instrument at trying to get at a story that’s been floating around for a while. So here’s a few thoughts for this goal:
- write little vignettes, in the hope that they’ll join up into something
- write the scene in my head, now, without it having to be part of the same thing
- if it does continue – fab!
- no editing; that can come later
- try to avoid repetition, though
- it’s all about exploration, baby!!
At the end of this year I’ll have 26K words – they don’t have to flow, or be brilliant; they’ll still be 26K more words than I have now!

One of my main goals this year is to figure out my next career move; another is to finish all the studying that takes (and has taken, for years) massive chunks of my life. I’m slightly ‘scared’ then to add another commitment to my list, but… well. It’s an understatement to say that I’ve been struck by the realisation that I need to have a bit of fun in life, a bit of those less-academic dreams being given a teenie wee bit of life space!
If there’s one dream that’s followed me through most of my life it’s to be a writer. I don’t even care at this point about being published; just the taking pictures and scenes and conversations out of my head and onto paper, joining them into some kind of coherent whole – wow.
I’ve been promising myself a go at NaNoWriMo for years, but still between work and studies and chores… argh!! This goal, then, is my turtle step: a teenie little, manageable step towards something that I’m fed up pushing back on!
Yay! :)
