Computer netted well over $300 on ebay and I just repaid dad in full ($249.40) for round trip tickets not just the $125 (was going to just do 1/2 of the round trip ticket as we agreed but I figure hey I’m a grown man I should really be covering my own expenses…). This coming Wednesday night I get paid including some O/T. Already wrote the check out and in notes I placed “TO PAY OFF STUDENT LOANS AKA MY BIG EXPENSIVE MISTAKE!” So pumped to start moving ahead!!

(Hm, I notice a lot of people here saying they’re done in the regular entries, when it seems like they should be putting it under HOW I DID IT/marking as ‘done’. But I digress…)
Slight setback, I owe dad $125 for plane ticket as my cousin is getting married in Miami next month and, as I have no credit card, I didn’t have the money as all the extra is going towards debt repayment, and the rates were going up so he spotted me. Granted I could have skipped, but it’s only going to happen once (hopefully!) and I also need a vacation as I’ve been working tons of O/T and not left the city in over a year and life should also be about fun too. That said, I still expect to have this one and the student loan paid off together as I’m now selling my unused laptop on eBay which should net another 200-300 so I think I’ll be OK. Then from there on in, I’m paying myself and getting ahead!

Oh my God, I can’t believe how incredibly close I am to accomplishing this goal!
It’s soooo tempting to pay this off with my emergency fund right now, but I am not going to tempt fate (aka Murphy’s Law). Next on the list is to sell my Mac laptop I no longer use which will probably pull in $200-600 plus my April Paycheck will kill it. I’m so excited that the light is at the end of the tunnel, and it will be just before birthday. What a gift to myself it will be to be debt free!! Yes!

Applied the $200 California state refund to this. Got paid today with all my O/T, not to mention I’m selling off my laptop which I no longer use which will hopefully net anywhere from $200-800. I think I may kill this off by the end of the month!! So close!

Whew! This has been a strange & expensive month. Thank god I know how to budget my money now – 3 birthdays (mom, dad & sister), plus all of my car stuff came due (license renewal, car repairs, insurance, registration renewal, carwashing, gas)... it’s made me really begin to wonder if I need to keep my car when I live in LA which for the most part has a lot of public transportation.
That being said, my federal tax renewal plus selling stuff online came in and put me under 2 grand left. So at the current rate I should be able to pay this off by end of May if not sooner!

Just did taxes for Fed & State, will have over $530 coming my way, so with that I will be just under 2 grand! Light is at the end of the tunnel, not including all the extra I have from overtime this week (it is pilot season) – once I pay for my car tax, car repair and insurance, I should still have 200-300 to throw towards this debt as well… great to know I don’t have to put that on credit or wait to be able to afford this. Liberating!!!

Looking back at when I first started paying everything off last year, I am really proud that I not only have eliminated a vast majority of my debts, but also that I’ve not borrowed from any family, friends, coworkers, etc. since then. What a great feeling to not only repay my obligations but to have stopped borrowing from others and being a burden on them! Now just waiting to do my tax return and pay off a large chunk of student loan…

More payment added & since my apartment/landlord screwed up by not repairing a major issue for 10 days another $100 off rent – will apply that towards debt when I get paid next week! Last lump sum will be from taxes so looking forward to getting those done and killing off a big piece of what I have left! I think I can say this will be done by May now.
