Instant Immersion

It sucks except for a few words here and there. Don’t waste your money.

I’m ordering Pimsleur comprehensive I-IV and what I’ve used so far is awesome! Nothing is as good as practicing with native speakers but it’s a close 2nd.

Pimsleur is better

Well aside from the fact that what I ended up buying was a pirated copy of Rosetta Stone (didn’t know it – now seeking legal action), I don’t think it’s super effective compared to Pimsleur which I am using right now (Comprehensive Level 1) for FREE from the public library as it teaches you slowly and helps you to listen, speak and think in Spanish in terms of phrases and words that are useful and less abstract as compared to R.S. which is basically a bunch of flash cards.

Bought Rosetta Stone V3 Spanish L 1-5!!

So excited, this looks great and I hear it works wonders. Got it for a great deal – just $200 vs $500 with tax etc. Will keep y’all posted.

Rosetta Stone

Has anyone done this and can they verify if it is worth the money? These are super expensive ($250 per level – 5 levels or $1,250 retail! – even online I’m able to get 1-5 for $250).

Meetup.com is great!

I go once a week and can only speak Spanish at the group – very tolerant, supportive and understanding. GREAT way to get over fears and practice Spanish. I am actually doing well it’s really coming back to me as I’ve not spoken it for years when I was a kid (I’m 1/2 Colombian but parents divorced, didn’t see dad for a long time and lost it all) so apparently it’s buried deep in my brain somewhere!

It also helps to have someone you know accountable and interested – a coworker of mine is in the same boat and speaks pretty well so we motivate each other to learn.

That way at the next family event with my father’s side there I can speak Spanish and do really well. I may not be perfect at it but I’m getting better the more I practice… you have to do it with people because the formal books on tape, classes, etc. are good for basics and vocab but not for real world experience.

Creo que voy a ser fluida en un ano!
