I graduated from The School of the Work of Byron Katie for training http://www.thework.com and I spent months reading books to prepare as well.
Before that, I spent 3 years as a mentor in a recovery group for girls with eating disorders. I also had 2 years experience as a peer counselor prior.
I recommend going to a school to get formal training so you learn how not to cross over into therapy.
