i haven't been through the official sangha gathering... 1 year ago

but what i think is the most important thing is… if i’m following the ways of the Dharma…. then i’m a buddhist…

i think we don’t really need an official thingy to say that we are officially buddhist.

Buddhism is about not letting the materialistic things in this life hinder ur spiritual process… so… i see the need for official approval as just man-made. at the moment… i live in new zealand and i don’t go to temples much… but i truely find refuge in the ways of Buddha and the Dharma. I might go to those sangha gatherings one day… But for now, although i am not lucky enough to have one near me… the way of the Buddha surely has made my life better and clearer… and i’m commited to follow this ever changing path. I hereby declare myself a Buddhist. Because i’m a follower of the ways of a Buddha.

is this logical?

defintely gonna be one 1 year ago

:)

Dalai Lama 2 years ago

his books are really inspiring on why everyone should practice compassion no matter what religion.

i like his books, easy to understand unlike some other books which explains things in too complicated terms.

the only thing is that i have to take it in a little by little so that i wouldn’t overload my brain with too much info. sorta like studying.

will i ever? 2 years ago

I want to become a buddhist because it teaches me how to approach life not only during the good times but also survive the bad times. it also teaches me what kind of attitude i should take life and see the meaning of it as everyday.

If we truely read books indepthly, we’ll know that praying for goddess like ‘kuan yin’ is not anything like ‘idolizing’ or asking for a blessing but instead, she represents the image of mercy, kindness, and forgiveness each of us want to achieve in being a buddhist and in return, a more steady person and happier soul to approach life. And although prince Siddhartha is Buddha, the book says everyone can become a Buddha if they’ve reached the criteria of achieving nirvana and to the “promised land” when life is over.

I believe in incarnation as i’ve heard alot of stories too real to disregard. with little 3year old children talking about existing places they have never been before and about being someone in the past who existed.

Most importantly, i believe how to live our lives right now is most crucial. We should live life to the fullest, but however, with less regrets and wrong doings as possible. Know how to be happy, know how to accept innovations that come out, know how to face life’s little problems, and at the end of the day, reflect what life and being human is all about.

Well my dad’s an “official” buddhist.. and he advice me that if i really wanted to be one.. i should first prove that i’m commited to becoming one because “gui yi” -to become a buddhist-is not something i should take lightly on.

Uni’s abit stressful at the moment. I’d pick up the books on buddhism again when the holidays arrive.

I want buddhism to be my guidance in life. plus of course, my love ones :)
