I’ve been thinking about you lately
The memories have come back
Of all the times it seemed like I couldn’t hold on
Every Phil Collins love song reminding me of how
I lost you, forever

Now the feelings are returning
I thought it was all in the past
But I must have just kept it locked deep inside
My heart.

Where did you go, my one love?
How can I survive?
You were the only happiness to my life
And now, no other man will compare
To what you were to me

They say first loves last forever
And now I’m seeing that they were right
I’ll always feel enormous regret
For not seeing you one last time
And telling you all that I felt.

Dear, my love
Why do you have to be with her
Can’t you see that I need you?
It hurts to look at you together,
Knowing that you will never feel this way.

Dear, my love
I thought I would never let this come between us!
But my heart got the best of me,
And now I’m torn in two just seeing your pretty eyes
Stare back at me
Without any real emotion.

Dear, my love
Pain and sadness has overcome me,
Leaving me in deep despair!
As long as your love goes unrequited,
I’ll continue to fall further and further into the darkness
Of my bruised ego.
