remodel my house

The creepy bathroom now has a behr faux venetian “lake como” finished closet-nook-thing. I’m not sure I like it—it looks a little like a cheerful black hole (or maybe a gloomy blue hole, but we’re nowhere near beliz so I don’t think the sharks will come out of the drain to attack me. I fear fresh-water sharks). The shelves are still in pieces in the living room, along with all of the things that need to be on the shelves, and since I removed the baseboards I need to plaster the base along the back and do one more faux coat. One step forward, fifty-three steps back. I wonder if I should felt a ninety-sixopus to live on one of the shelves (google it).

Thing is, I’ve got to get most of the house remodeling done before my parents come and visit in mid July. There are no baseboards, there are huge holes in the wall where he-who-must-wire decided that he needs constant access (instead of installing, say, a DOOR), and the bathroom. Oh, the bathroom. It still scares me. I’m not sure how I’m going to make it less scary. Years of filth. Decades, perhaps. At least the removal of the wall panels and a good scrubbing got the decades of smoke off of the walls. (Hint to smokers. Smoke outside. It won’t turn your walls yellow.) And the carpeting is all out, although we still have to refinish the floors in the office and hallway. Ugh. It looks better than we bought it, but still. It doesn’t match what we paid for it.
