I call myself an ‘atheist’, others call me crazy. I have attended various churches of different denominations, and yet I have found no faith. I approach things from a scientific aspect – we have fossils and scientific proof to back-up dinosaurs and cave men. But come on – did Cane really kill Abel? Did Noah build the Ark? I have researched and read up on many religions – Catholicism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism…and Buddhism is the closest thing I have found to beliefs I can live with. I find it hard to believe everyone is going to either heaven or hell…and if there is such a place, after we die our physical bodies rot (which is why I want to be cremated, which makes my Mother furious) and our spirits float freely to wherever. I want to see to believe. I have a problem with blind faith. According to Christianity, if you accept God and Jesus before you die, then you’ll go to Heaven? So if that’s the case, do we really want to spend eternity with people like Jeffrey Dahmer and Hitler?! God? Are you there?
