read 10 books in 2009

Written by Tony Curtis, who must have a wonderful memory (but whom I suspect has a vivid imagination) about the making of one of my favorite movies, Some Like It Hot. Marilyn was a piece of cake!

Fascinating account by writer/screenwriter/director Nicholas Meyer about his off-again, on-again relationship with Star Trek movies.

Very true book consisting of blog entries by a woman with an engaging sense of humor who just happens to have breast cancer. These are her adventures.

I don’t know if this counts, but I’ll put it down anyway: this is a graphic novel about how Wolverine got those adamantium claws. Quite bloody for a comic book….and repetitious.

Gritty book about a T.V. star (MTM) who learned she had Type I diabetes when she was 33, and how she coped with it.

A fascinating and honest account of Joe Torre’s years as manager of the Yankees.

A chronicle of Noel Neill’s career beyond her iconic role as “Lois Lane.”

Helen Fisher contends that people are separated into one of four identities as their primary trait, and who you are determines who you connect well with:

Explorers – curious, creative, adventurous – drawn to other Explorers.
Builders – calm, persistent, loyal, traditional – connects well with other Builders.
Directors – analytical, decisive, focused – match up well with Negotiators.
Negotiators – imaginative, verbal, intuitive, idealistic, agreeable – responds especially strongly to Directors.

This is the rather thick graphic novel upon which the new movie is based. Fascinating.
