Be more sociable

I’m wondering whether using these sites, and sharing these stories, counts as being sociable. It’s more abstract, since it doesn’t feel real-life, though I know my words and conversations reach much wider than they could in person.

I’m also motivated by a desire to record these things for myself, so they don’t die with me. So does being opinionated, and talking about my own perspectives, count? I’ve always thought that really being sociable was about drawing out other people, showing them that you care what they have to say, rather than the reverse. Maybe they both comprise “being sociable”.

Probably my biggest problem with being more sociable is contempt for small talk. I feel I can spend my time better by accomplishing something. But I know that by being sociable, I can build relationships which make it easier to accomplish tasks within a group.
