okay  — 2 years ago

i can call this finished. i’ve been getting up when i mean to for over a month now. granted, i have the deadline of work forcing me, but i’m still doing it. the system i have of two alarms set to go off at very annoyingly close intervals seems to be working. bah. wish i didn’t have to get up at a certain time in the morning.

still doing pretty well. when i have to go to school, it’s easier to get up. but the more sleep deprived i get, the less i want to. today i set the alarm a lot, but i didn’t have to get to school as early so it was okay.

school hours  — 2 years ago

i don’t live very close to the school i teach at, so getting up early enough is very important! i’ve actually been doing well. granted, i set two different alarms and i get up the fourth time something goes off, but i plan it like that.

my morning alarm system:
1. my actual alarm clock goes off and i hit snooze (it’s a precaution)
2. my cell phone alarm #1 goes off three minutes later
3. my cell phone alarm #2 goes off one minute after that
4. my cell phone alarm #3 goes off one minute after that
5. i get up

worst case is that i don’t get up and fall back asleep. that’s why i leave the snooze on for my other alarm – it’s nine minutes long, so it’ll go off and hopefully wake me up after all of those cell phone alarms….

i’ve actually been getting up this week and making it to school basically when i want to. despite not liking to get up in the morning, if i do get up and leave the house, i get things done. i’m really lazy in the evening, even if i’m more awake. :)

i’ve been pretty good. however, i had real things to get up for. but it is true that during the school year i will mostly get up on time. maybe snooze once as i come to terms with the idea that i will be required to get up and face the day. :)

here’s to getting up on time every day next week, especially since i’ll have many early morning obligatioins!

dreaming again  — 3 years ago

i’ve been having real issues getting up early this second half of the week. at least i’ve been keeping myself to 9:30 or earlier. i HAVE to get myself up earlier since school starts in … well, early mornings start in a WEEK

not awake, but dreaming  — 3 years ago

well, i must say, i hit my alarm’s snooze a few times this morning. and then i set my cell phone alarm for a few more times (i have to be more coherent for that, so it gets me out of bed sooner).

but i did have a wacky dream while i was half-awake this morning. and right after i was just telling my cousin that i never dream of things that are outside of reality. i dreamt this morning that someone put a flying-saucer-sized dinner plate balanced atop a very tall monument. and on this dinner plate, the same someone built a school, restaurants, shops, streets, etc. and my new job was in the school on this balanced dinner plate. being afraid of falling, i wasn’t so okay with this. and then the dream switched and i was working as a hostess in one of the restaurants on the dinner plate, and i had to seat a part of 27 headed by a rather cute fellow.

so far this summer, even on days when i don’t need to get up for anything specific or work, i’ve been getting up right at 8 hours of sleep. i set my alarm clock for about 10 minutes after it goes off and then i get up. actually, i’m setting my cell phone. it doesn’t have a snooze. :) if i’m awake enough to reset it, i’m awake enough to get up. i reset it once and then force myself out of bed. of course, it still takes me my regular alarm clock and three alarms from my cell phone (one minute apart) to wake me up in the first place…

i’m a deep sleeper. :)
