Last night I was pinned by my husband, during the nursing school pinning ceremony. I gave a well received speech on the gift of knowledge. In one of the other students speechs, the student named me as the person by which she learned about “unconditional kindness”. It took everything I had to not cry. The placed was packed with people (I believe around 550). Afterward I went to a great party at a friends house.
Tonight we have the college’s graduation. I will be graduating with honors and as a member of Phi Theta Kappa (the two year college honor society). I can hardly believe that it’s over. Actually, I plan to do a RN-to-BSN or MSN program, so it isn’t really over. I have attained a goal that has taken me over three years to attain, though. This goal is complete and it was a big one.
catspajamas has written 16 entries about this goal

One lecture- four hours
One final- two hours

Two more lectures eight hours total
one clinical conference one hour total
One final exam two hours
Then the pinning ceremony for nursing program and graduation from the college!
I had one interview at the facility that I want to work at. They called yesterday with the job offer. I returned their call today with my acceptance. I have just landed my first job as an RN, and I’m verrrry happy!
went well. I should find out Tuesday if I get the job I want in Med-Surg. If not, I will need to interview at another facility to get a med-surg position. I felt good about the interview. I had two very nice letters of recommendation, one from my manager and one from my clinical supervisor at work. I already work for the institution, but in home health instead of in the hospital.Tuesday I will be attending a lecture on Pain Management, so I may not really know if I got the job until Wednesday after class.
have been very trying. We are studying OB complications. It isn’t a very happy subject and I’m not particularly interested in OB to begin with. I’m precepting at night (7pm-7 am)a couple of days a week. Since the shifts are at night, it really feels like it ties up three days. I have been selected to work on a community health fair project, It’s fun but very time consuming. This term we have outside learning modules that we need to complete to graduate. I have a job interview on Thursday. This term is going to be a difficult and stressful term. Fortunately its my last term, so I’ll endure it. Just needed to vent.
My preceptor on post-surgical will not be able to precept me next termafter all. My instructor called today and told me who my new preceptor is. I will be on the med-surg floor (which is great), but at night (not so great while in school). I’m a bit afraid of adjusting to night shifts while I’m still attending school. I need to be able to be awake and alert when in class. I know I’ll get through this, but I’m freaking out alittle.I anticipated my first RN postion being a night. It trying to work at night while in school, and working my regular (day shift) job in home health. I’m just going to have to take it one day (or night) at a time.
which is where I asked to be. I’m on day shift, which will work easier with my class schedule. I’m very happy. I haven’t met my preceptor yet. I need to wait for her to contact me, and set up my schedule. A friend that works on this unit as an LPN said that she is a great person to have as a preceptor because she really enjoys teaching.
who my preceptor will be. Then I have to wait for that person to contact me to set up my schedule for next term. I’m soooo excited!
