When I was about 17 I backpacked the Rogue River Trail. While hiking under the blistering hot sun, I noticed the kayakers shouting the rapids below us. I decided then, that the next time I went down this canyon I would be in a kayak. Now, almost 30 years later, I’m thinking about learning to kayak. I think I’m looking for a Zen experience, being one with the river.
