I need to start on my wheel 3 years ago

This winter should be a great time to get my wheel built. Then I can get some roving to practice with, and start spinning again.

I went to the Black Sheep Gathering in Eugene, OR 3 years ago

last weekend. What a wonderful display of weaving, handspun, knitting, and beautiful herds of sheep, goats and angora rabbits. It really made me want to start moving on this goal again. After I pass my state board exam for nursing, I plan to get my traveler wheel kit out of storage and start assembling it. Then I think I’ll buy some roving, and try to find a class on spinning (it’s been so long since I spun I think that a class will prevent some frustration when I start spinning again). I looked over all the breeds of sheep, and really fell in love with the shetland sheep. They are a very small, but hardy breed, with fine wonderful coats. I need to do some fencing before I get a new herd, but I am more motivated now. Also, I was talking to a friend about my desire to learn to weave, and she said that she has a table top loom that she doesn’t use. When she finds it she will give it to me. Wow, I can see that I may actually move forward on this goal. Hurray!

This goal should actually be... 3 years ago

1. Construct my travel wheel (Ashford kit)
2. Wash and card my wool(from my sheep herd that I sold before returning to school)
3. Spin lots of wool
4. Dye above wool into beautiful colors using vegetable dyes
5. Practice inkle weaving with yarn from collection
6. Weave using inkle loom and my handspun
7. Learn to weave with a larger loom…
