restore politeness, refinement, tact and other old-fashioned niceties

I feel as if everyone my age can’t help but be rude. I remember I was dropping my sister off with my mom in Washington D.C. and on the way back, I walked through a crowd. Needless to say, I’m a pretty small girl and got caught up with people going around me. I couldn’t get through the crowd until an older looking man with a woman, said politely and warmly, “Excuse me, young miss.” And pointed me in the right direction. I felt so surprised that he took the time out to actually help me, I said a grateful thank you and he said, “Have a nice day,” and the elegant looking woman next to him smiled at me with a real smile, not a fake one. I was shocked as I walked back to catch up with my mom. I hadn’t been talked to so politely in ages. It was refreshing. I want to be like that. Memorable for being polite and nice to people.
