49. slaughterhouse five (1972, george roy hill, w/ michael sacks, valerie perrine) – fantastic rendition of the novel!
it’s been over a year now since i’ve adopted this goal, and i’ve only watched 49 movies, so sad! but, i’ve been working on my dissertation, so that’s my excuse… hope to improve on this during the next year!

44. the curious case of benjamin button (2008, david fincher, w/ brad pitt, cate blanchett, julia ormond) a little long for me, but generally fascinating .. mostly because of the makeup and age changes!
45. burn after reading (2008, coen brothers, w/ george clooney, frances mcdormand, brad pitt, john malkovich) pretty good, but the other coen bros. films are much better!
46. marion bridge (2002, wiebke von carolsfeld, w/ molly parker, ellen page) again, a little long and also depressing!

40. star trek (2009, j.j. abrams, w/ chris pine & zacharty quinto, oh oh oh!) – loved this movie, got me all excited about old episodes of the trek!
41. wassup rockers (2006, larry clark, w/ lots of people i didn’t recognize…kinda like a documentary) – i do not recommend this film…
42. synecdoche, ny (2009, charlie kaufman, w/ philip seymour hoffman, catherine keener) – absolutely mindblowing!

34. dan in real life (2007, peter hedges, w/ steve carell, juliette binoche, dane cook) common/boring storyline, made to look independent – a little disappointing, focus features!
35. slum dog millionaire (2008, danny boyle & loveleen tandan, w/ irrfan kahn, dev patel, freida pinto) *awesome movie, the whole ‘who wants to be a millionaire thing is weird, but the plot and message is beautiful. love the child actors!
36. all about my mother (1999, pedro almodovar, w/ cecilia roth, marisa paredes, penelope cruz) starkly saddens me to think of all the mothers who have lost their children. this movie is amazing, especially the artwork in it…
37. coraline (2008, henry selick, w/ dakota fanning, teri hatcher, keith david) loved this one, so creative and fresh. henry selick is a creative mastermind!
