At the Delta place there was like five crates of Macaws (tropical birds) screaming their heads off at the front desk. It was so loud I could barely hear the clerk. “Oh you are here for the kitties, you can look at them but don’t take them, I need to see your drivers license”.
Well, we took them home and put them in their “safe room” ..The books said let them sit in their carrier until they themselves get out. We left them alone for a bit and later came back to discover they both went under the dresser.
It’s day two and they haven’t eaten much. I am thinking those Macaws were no fun.
I intend to gather them up and take them into the tv room with us..they are super shy.

it went sort of as planned sort of…We got to the Delta place at 8:20

This day is actually HERE! 3 years ago

I just can’t believe what a big deal this is to me! Well, when I get a pet it is “forever”..so these two are going to be in my life for the next 16-18-20 years (hopefully!!)
After my cat Ruggles died I just didn’t realize how empty the house would feel. He was so special and not having him around has been so depressing! I think Dave thinks I have gone a little batty. lol. poor guy.
Well, we pick them up at around 8pm—the cargo guy said we’ll probably have to wait after they arrive for as much as 1/2 hour. I’ll take my camera and document the whole deal.
I’m so excited!

tomorrow night is the night! 3 years ago

The breeder told me (at first) that the kitties “would fly in the cabin with people”...BUT then I called a phone number she gave me and talked with a guy named Jeff..nope! he told me..they fly as CARGO. geez louise. I just hope it will all go smoothly! They have to switch planes in Atlanta. “Jeff” says animals in cargo are commonplace. sigh.

today because I was in two different waiting rooms 3 years ago

I read an entire paperback about cats and cat behavior…very interesting! I learned LOTS of stuff I didn’t have a clue about..for example when a cat claws your furniture it is their way of saying “this is my address”. (I thought it stemmed from being bored or obstinate)..I learned what you do to get them interested in a scratching post instead. Turns out I don’t have enough litter boxes OR scratching posts! Back to Petsmart!

today I worked on the hall 3 years ago

I moved all the glass stuff off the bookcases. I went to petsmart and bought more stuff. In particular I got a very cozy little pet bed for the little ones and a litter mat for when they step out of their little litter box. This is fun!

I cleaned up the "safe room" 3 years ago

it is nearly all done! (can you believe THIS is the same room as below??) Pretty soon we will be welcoming the kitties! I still have to go over the REST of the house and make sure there isn’t stuff they can get into (and get hurt from!)..but their room is almost all ready. Need to find them something nice to sleep in!
I have to re-cover the old cat furniture thing and maybe get them a little “ramp” or something so they can look out the window. :)

OK--this is the room I have to straighten out for the kitties 3 years ago

GAWD

went to petsmart today 3 years ago

got some things-it was great to go kitty shopping!-I will need to go back before next week..for the right kind of litter and food. Don’t worry, I promise not to buy them a stroller or any kitty “clothes”!! (It’s true, they sell those things!)
