Here is my in-basket  — 1 year ago

look on the desk, next to that bushy tail, and you’ll see a copy of “Getting Things Done”. I’ve been in sort of a stall with this. ha ha.

yesterday ...  — 2 years ago

I set a goal to work in my in basket for 1/2 hour and do whatever next action was required on each thing. I really need to work longer but 1/2 hour is all I could manage. Back at it today. :)

back at it  — 2 years ago

this week I will go through all the boxes that I have lined up next to my desk.

more in basket work today  — 2 years ago

plus I contacted my lawyer to follow up. She is a great business person, she contacted me right back. Maybe she read this book, I wouldn’t be surprised.

worked at my in basket yesterday  — 2 years ago

accomplished two things that had been hanging over my head for a year. I like this getting things done thing.

couldn't work on GTD today  — 2 years ago

although my work up to today helped me in my effort to draft a response to Attorney’s attorney. I was able to find everything, since it was all housed in a nice labeled folder.

worked all day at GTD  — 2 years ago

I am making such progress. I just don’t want to quit until I get everything put away into the “trusted system”. I do have to go some places tomorrow..errands, but for the rest of the day I will be back at it. I AM going to have to do the work in the “in” basket soon.

A long time ago (a hundred years ago, I think) I was a file clerk at an insurance agency. The file people had a “tickler” file like this one. It has plenty of room for 8.5×11 papers under each number. I think I will use this for the tickler file instead of David Allen’s individual file folders. That’s my plan. Of course, the trick is to remember to look in it everyday.

oooo that photo project distracted me. But I am so pleased that I put together my ex husband’s papers that got mixed up with my photos. Now they are neatly in a box, addressed and ready to get mailed. That IS getting things done...because I should have done that quite a long time ago. PLUS I got together my deceased brothers photos to scan so I can send the originals to his children. Only been thinking about doing THAT for about six years. wooo hooo!! Getting things done! I’m Getting things done!

Today I am going to office depot for more storage boxes (I need them for all the archived stuff). I’ll get everything else out in the open and forge ahead with finding a permanent home for everything. I have to be careful not to waste anymore time (like I did yesterday..it was impossible not to look at all those photos, gosh I looked pretty when I was 25!). If I don’t press ahead swiftly we’ll never get the bedroom back.
