Have had some success with anticipating when tantrum will occur, and acting to prevent it. For example, hunger precipitates tantrum, therefore avoid hunger in public places.
I’m also much better at just ignoring the tantrums. Will see how I cope shopping tomorrow. May almost call this goal complete.

Yesterday…Explained time out to DH and DD. Planned to use DD’s bedroom for time out. First tantrum started, and realised that little brother was asleep in DD’s room! So did time out in laundry. DD settled. Second tantrum was shorter.
Today…no significant tantrums. My sister visited, and brought her copy of Children Are People Too. Lists all the reasons why I shouldn’t use time out. Hmmm, what to do?
Went to border’s and read the chapter on Time Out in Toddler Taming by C Green.
Plan of Attack
1. Explain theory to DH
2. Decide where time out space will be
3. Decide when to start
4. Explain theory to DD
5. Put theory into practice
