I received a new cookbook from a friend 3 years ago

last week so I’m going to try to use a new recipe from that each week. I accomplished it already this week. Made lasagna…it was OK, I’m not a huge fan of it to begin with, if I were going to make it again I’d do a few things differently….more mozzarella, more sauce, add some spinach, less meat.



Waffles 3 years ago

I made waffles for the first time ever this weekend. My dad had bought us a waffle maker for Christmas (2004) and it’s been sitting in the cabinet since then…still in the box. They were actually pretty easy to make, I was surprised. Not something I’ll be making all the time but still nice to know I can if I want to.

Still have to make the pasta I mentioned in my Friday post, that will be for tonight.

I can get to the grocery store, I’m going to try a new recipe(Sundried Tomato/Artichoke/Spinach Pasta). Got the idea from a friend today and although she didn’t give me the exact recipe, found one close on the internet so we’ll see how it goes!



Week 2 - Complete? 3 years ago

Well, I made some cookies that I’ve never made before by digging some basics out of the pantry. I found the recipe on Hersey’s website for Chocolate Drop Sugar Cookies. They came out OK, definitely not the best cookies I’ve ever made. Although I completed this goal for this week, this wasn’t exactly my intent for this goal. It was more to try new things for dinner, not desserts (especially not cookies, those seem so ordinary), I need to get out of the rut I’m in as far as weekly dinners go. Perhaps I need to invest in a new cookbook that really has some good simple family recipes in it.

I haven’t made anything new yet, gotta come up with something fast! Maybe I’ll make a cookie recipe I’ve never tried before or something because it’s not the time to be coming up with something fancy for dinner.



Week 1 - Success! 3 years ago

I tried a new recipe on Saturday because we were having my brother and his family over for dinner, so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to try something new. Although looking back now, maybe that isn’t the best time to try a new recipe since you don’t know for sure what it’s going to come out like. It was great however, so all went well. The recipe I tried was from the latest Food & Wine magazine that a friend of mine let me borrow. I made Chicken-Black Bean Quesadilla’s with a Mango Salsa and everyone seemed to love it!

Now to think of something new for this week…
