Be Careful! I got hooked.... — 1 year ago
Decided 4 years ago to give the Mac ago after spending all my computing life working from DOS through all the incarnations of Windows right through to XP, I built my own machines, sold them and supported them, so you could say i knew what I was doing. I bought a 266 Bondi blue iMac off ebay for about £100 at the time if I remember right. I played with it for a couple of months using OS 9, and i have to say I was not that thrilled. I remember trying to fix extension conflicts and the interface not being especially special.
I took it apart, put more memory in it, stuffed a bigger hard drive in it, and installed OS X, and wow what a different animal it was then, when I look back it was even more spectacular because the machine was already something like 4 or 5 years old, imagine shoving vista on a 4 or 5 year old PC, it aint gonna happen.
After that I was hooked!
I have used them every day ever since, my business runs Macs only, I have never had any downtime, they have never gone wrong, they do everything I need faster than I could ever do it before. They are just so damn initutive and work the way I need them to work.
Currently I have the following Macs
G3 Graphite
G3 Blueberry
G5 iMac 17inch front row (my powerhouse, and the only one bought new)
G4 PowerMac
G4 MacMini
G4 12 inch Powerbook
G3 Keylime iBook (rare and very beautiful)
G4 eMac
I also have an Apple TV, which now it has you tube is an absolute corker!
All my Mac’s are used in my business except for the Graphite and Blueberry which are now surpless to requirements.
Get one, you will never look back, trouble is you might start to feel sorry for older Macs and end up collecting the things! I never realised I had so many until I did this post!
