go to Tibet

I don’t get to go this time. I am really bummed because it was the main purpose in taking this particular trip. But I got really sick in Dali and couldn’t get up for a couple days, and by then it was too late. We will have a couple extra days in Chengdu, which is cool, but will have to save Tibet for another time. I guess that means I can do Xinjiang at the same time, which is cool.
Sigh.

Well, things do not look good for my grandfather, and it has been recommended that we bail on our contract here in Shenzhen. The new plan is to teach through the month of March, pack up and take a trip to Western China for a couple weeks, then get home just as Grandpa is finishing up round one of his chemo. Provided the budget allows, I’ll be there!

This was a given, but it’s looking a little shakey. Since my grandpa has fallen ill, I need to make sure we get back to the states sooner than later, which probably means no traveling at the end of the year. However, if I cut out of my contract early, I would like to collect my last pay check and travel for a couple weeks before going home. I really want to go to Tibet. I want to do Yun Nan province too, and I would like to get to Xin Jiang. If we could do all that in one trip, that would rock face. I really hope it happens this year.
