Almost thru day 9...

Don’t know what to say folks. I’ve been feeling pretty great since that first day. Hard to believe that tomorrow is day 10. Don’t get me wrong, I do want to eat, but I really do feel very good physically and I feel very good about not eating until I’ve properly completed post cleanse. Yes, I was definitely past due for this cleanse. Hopefully I can behave thru the holidays. :)

Cleanse on!

Days 4-6...

...went by without issue. Seems like it’s been a pretty easy cleanse for me thus far (knock on wood), with the exception of the first day. I’ve been full energy, non stop doing… everything from wrapping presents to cooking for the rest of the fam. Food still looks good to me and I’m realizing how much I eat just because it’s there. Everytime I see food I want some. Whatever, I’m going the whole ten. Done it before and I’ll do it again. :)

Days 2 & 3...

Ah, days 2 & 3 were a welcome change from day 1. I’ve had non-stop energy both days and on day 3 my super sensory smell was activated. I opened a cupboard to get out a measuring cup and the sweet smell of marshmallows overtook me. Not to the extent that I ate any or even touched the bag for that matter, but how could a bag that had never been opened produce such an aroma. Anyway, day 3 proved to be a day of cravings. Mind over matter, I got past it. Oddly, it came to me last night that all of three days I’ve been on this cleanse I have spent at least a portion of my day walking down the aisles of food stores. Day 1 was Sam’s… my monthly trip which on this occasion included 6 bags of lemons… Day 2 was Trader Joe’s… time to stock up on grade B maple syrup… and Day 3 was the local grocer… for regular weekly shopping (guess the rest of the family still wants to eat). What a way to cleanse, right. I’m def in for 10 days. Cleanse on!!!

Day 1 sucked...

And yet I’m back fro more. My last cleanse was in early February. Prior to that I was cleansing every 4 to 6 months. I had no intention of waiting this long toi cleanse but life does somehow get in the way. So, the details… I’m a 49 year old female, 5’6”, 150lbs. I’m back cleansing because I feel kinda crappy. Not sleeping well, seeing the return of the cellulite, and would love to get back that feeling of “feeling good in my skin”. Two thirds of the way through day 1 found me feeling kinda queasy and working up to an evil headache. Returned home only to vomit the lemon concoction that I had already drank throughout the day. I laid down thinking perhaps a short nap was in order, but the headache was so intense that I thought perhaps if I drank the salt water and eliminated toxins I would feel better. No such luck. That came right back up too. Eventually I was able to sleep for a couple of hours and woke at 9:11pm (no joke). I got up then and sipped my laxative tea very slowly. It took me an hour to drink the whole cup. Then I went back to bed. Woke without a headache and was able to do the salt water without a problem, so now I am into my first lemonade of the day. Hope that things are looking up! :)

Happy cleansing!!!

Did you know...

Sharing some good info previously posted…

Lemons are the king of citrus fruit. Because of their high source of bioflavinoids, they are powerful in detoxifying the body. They are also an excellent diuretic. During fasting, lemon juice has a tremendous ability to dissolve mucus and scour toxins from the cellular tissue.

STAGES OF DETOX
I found this info online and thought it may be of interest to anyone on the MC…
Here is an overview of the detoxification stages during a juice fast. The time periods are a general estimation.
Stage 1 (Day 1 To Day 2)
On the first day of fasting, the blood sugar level drops below 70 mg/dl. To restore the blood to the normal glucose level, liver glycogen is converted to glucose and released into the blood. This reserve is enough for half a day. The body then reduces the basal metabolic rate (BMR). The rate of internal chemical activity in resting tissue is lowered to conserve energy. The heart slows and blood pressure is reduced. Glycogen is pulled from the muscle causing some weakness. The first wave of cleansing is usually the worst.
Headaches, dizziness, nausea, bad breath, glazed eyes and a heavily coated tongue are signs of the first stage of cleansing. Hunger can be the most intense in this period unless the enema is used which quickly assists the body into the fasting state by ending digestion in the colon.
Stage 2 (Day 3 To Day 7)
Fats, composed of transformed fatty acids, are broken down to release glycerol from the gliceride molecules and are converted to glucose. The skin may become oily as rancid oils are purged from the body. People with problem-free skin may have a few days of pimples or even a boil. A pallid complexion is also a sign of waste in the blood. Ketones are formed by the incomplete oxidation of fats. It is suspected that the ketones in the blood suppress the appetite by affecting the food-satiety center in the hypothalamus. You may feel hungry for the first few days of the fast. This effect is temporary. The desire to eat will disappear. Lack of hunger may last 40 to 60 days, depending on whether you are on water or juice.
The body embraces the fast and the digestive system is able to take a much-needed rest, focusing all of its energies on cleansing and healing. White blood cell and immune system activity increases. You may feel pain in your lungs. The cleansing organs and the lungs are in the process of being repaired. Periodically, the lymphatic system expels mucoid matter through the nose or throat. The volume excreted of this yellow-colored mucus can be shocking. The sinuses go through periods of being clogged, then will totally clear. The breath is still foul and the tongue coated. Within the intestine, the colon is being repaired and impacted feces on the intestinal wall start to loosen.
Stage 3 (Day 8 to Day 15)
On the latter part of an extended fast, you can experience enhanced energy, clear-mindedness and feel better than you have felt since childhood. On the downside, old injuries may become irritated and painful. This is a result of the body’s increased ability to heal during fasting. If you had broken your arm 10 years before, there is scar tissue around the break. At the time of the break, the body’s ability to heal was directly related to lifestyle. If you lived on a junk-food diet, the body’s natural healing ability was compromised.
During fasting, the body’s healing process is at optimum efficiency. As the body scours for dead or damaged tissue, the lymphocytes enter the older, damaged tissue secreting substances to dissolve the damaged cells. These substances irritate the nerves in the surrounding region and cause a reoccurrence of aches from previously injured areas that may have disappeared years earlier. The pain is good as the body is completing the healing process. The muscles may become tight and sore due to toxin irritation. The legs can be the worst affected, as toxins accumulate in the legs. Cankers are common in this stage due to the excessive bacteria in the mouth. Daily gargling with salt and water will prevent or heal cankers.
Stage 4 (Day 16 to Day 30)
The body is completely adapted to the fasting process. There is more energy and clarity of mind. Cleansing periods can be short with many days of feeling good in between. There are days when the tongue is pink and the breath is fresh. The healing work of the organs is being completed. After the detoxification mechanisms have removed the causative agent or render it harmless, the body works at maximum capacity in tissue proliferation to replace damaged tissue. While a short fast will reduce the symptoms, a longer fast can completely heal. Homeostatic balance is at optimum levels. The lymphatic system is clean except for a rare discharge of mucus through the nose or throat. After day 20, the mind is affected. Heightened clarity and emotional balance are felt at this time. Memory and concentration improve.
Stage 5 (Breaking the Fast)
The sticky, toxic, mucoid coating on the intestinal wall is loose, and the first meal frees it from the intestinal wall. Toxins enter the blood through the colon. The gallbladder dumps its waste in a heavy discharge of bile. This can cause an instant bowel movement upon eating followed by intense diarrhea. If the symptoms are too uncomfortable, an enema will help.

WHERE THE TOXINS LURK
Many of us commit to healthier eating habits after the cleanse. All in all a good policy, but I thought you might be interested in knowing where else we’re getting our daily dose of toxins from. This is just a short list but feel free to add to it as I’m sure there are many things I haven’t considered.
- Chlorine and Flouride in the water. The worst place for ingesting toxins is in the shower. The hot water produces steam and the toxins are inhaled. It is said that you ingest more toxins taking a hot shower (in unfiltered chlorinated water) than you can ingest in any other way during your day. If that isn’t enough, you’re absorbing another dose through your skin.
- Most all of our oceans rivers and lakes are polluted to some effect, which makes anything that lives in, is watered by, or ingests that water also polluted. Hmmm… what’s for dinner?
- But there’s always bottled water. What about the emissions from the plastic?
- Airborne toxins include those we think of, like carbon monoxide, and those we don’t think of like perfumes, air fresheners, insecticides, pesticides, and fertilizers.
- Personal products like deodorant, shampoo, and soap can contain chemicals which are absorbed through the skin.
- Prescription drugs and over the counter medications contain chemicals. Ever wonder about all those possible side effects? No wonder they are controlled substances. Nine times out of ten they are not prescribed to cure you… only to eliminate your symptoms. If you take them long enough they’ll cause symptoms of their own. Not to worry, the doc can give you something for that.
- Even organic foods can contain traces of toxins such as jet fuel. It is virtually impossible to get away from something like this.
So, do you feel like a walking time bomb? Just consider that 50 years ago people weren’t combatting all of these toxins. My Dad, who is now 90 years old wasn’t eating and drinking out of plastic containers for his entire life. When his family farmed they didn’t use pesticide. In fact he probably didn’t get his first shot or dose of prescription medication until he entered the armed services because it just wasn’t readily available. Perhaps that’s why he made it to the ripe old age of 90. Think of where your path is taking you. You could live in a bubble but you probably still would be ingesting toxins from somewhere, so the key is to do the best you can with what you have, and make an effort to educate others.
Sorry for the downer… just thought it was information that needed to be shared. And look at the bright side, now you have so many more reasons to cleanse. :)

Day 1 - Post cleanse...

Greetings fellow cleansers. Sorry I did not touch base here the past couple of days but life got in the way. We had technical issues and I had to replace our wireless router which took me way longer than it should have. Anyway, the fun part is, it didn’t even piss me off. HA, HA!.

So, here I am sipping my first glass of oh so sweet fresh squeezed OJ. I started the cleanse at 145 lbs. and am now at 137, but it should be noted that a week before cleansing I went on raw food and dropped from 150 to 145 within that week. So, not bad for an old lady (48).

My cleanse was pretty standard. I’ve done several in the past couple of years (2-3 per year). I always tend to think that if I can get by day 3 without the pounding headache, then I’m doing fine, but this cleanse proved me wrong and the headache arrived on day 4. Just goes to show that no two cleanses are alike, and I bet I can pick out the culprit that caused the headache. :)

Will be adding another post shortly for those new to this process with some info I’ve gleaned along the way. Good luck to you all, I will probably check back again.

Happy cleansing!!!

Morning Day 8...

Day 7 was a good day… no headaches etc. And the GIANTS kicked ass. YAY!!! I’m really not much of a footbal fan but I think the Patriots needed to be put back in their place. Day 8 SWF produced very little in the way of solids. Hangin’ in for 10 days at least. I’ve been doing this cleanse regulary (2-3 times a year since I first discovered it in ‘06. My body now tells me when it’s time to cleanse again. :) Rock on cleansers!!!

Day 7 - feelin' fine...

Same results with the SWF as the past couple of days. Slept like a rock and woke feeling great. Hope all is well with the rest of you cleansers. :)

Morning day 6...

Halfway there… yesterday and todays SWFs both gave way to dark masses in the watery BMs. That’s gotta be good right? Yesterday was pretty much a bliss day for me until evening when the mild headache reappeared. Other than that, no problems. Feeling good this morning and hoping the rest of the cleanse passes much the same way. PS – Only a couple lbs down dorm when I started but must note that I lost 5 lbs the week before when I was eating raw to prepare for the cleanse. Have a great day!!!

Morning - Day 5 - A new day...

And a much better one at that. Yesterday didn’t turn out quite as I planned. I did use some HeadOn and my headache lessened to the point of me actually being able to function. Good thing too because we had a snowstorm and my daughter slid into a ditch. My husband and I drove to help her and had to wait over an hour for a tow truck to pull her out. Of course I didn’t think to take any LA so I was over two hours without any. That didn’t do me any good and of course I had to walk to the nearest business (a tavern) to use the restroom. All in good fun I say. Anyway, I drank lots and lots of LA & water and by evening my headache was a dull background pain. I woke this morning feeling great and had a substantial BM before the SWF. I did half the SWF and it worked like a charm. I feel much lighter and thinner, but the scales aren’t showing it. No matter, I’m looking for a feeling more than a weight change and I can tell today is going to be a very productive day for me. Hope the same is true for all of you.

Love & Light…
