I reached 50,058 words on the evening of November 27th and finished NaNo WriMo with three whole days to spare.
This competition rocks! For people who have always wanted to write a novel but could not seem to apply the seat of their pants to the seat of their chair, Nano WriMo provides the structure and the incentive to start and to finish.
Now that I have finished my NaNo, I still need to finish the novel but it’s all happening!
Happy dance!

I did not write yesterday… that’s the first time all month. I was just too exhausted. This evening, after a nap, I passed 35,000 and then 36,000 words. Most of them were not brilliant words but I am working hard on just getting them down.
This is the last weekend so it needs to be BIG! Big word count.
I am totally going to reach 50,000 words by November 30th.

I stumbled onto a reference to NanoWrimo (National Novel Writing Month) on this site, actually, and signed up to write 50,00 words that day. I felt that this kind of deadline – writing 50,000 words in one month, was exactly the type of motivation I needed to help me write this story that I have had in my mind for a couple of years.
I have to write 2000 words a day but so far, I have been able to manage it and we are now a little more than half way through the month.
What’s more, I am really enjoying the work and my characters. Certainly the story has taken some turns I never anticipated but I like that about my main character. She is a bold and independent gal.
Good luck to all you Nano writers out there. We CAN do it!
