who constantly thinks about committing suicide. The problem is he won’t listen to any sort of help I, or anyone, tries to give him. He thinks so negatively that it’s hard to even decide where to begin talking to him. I figure, if I can make a positive difference in his life, I can make a difference in the world.

When I was young and free and my
imagination had no limits, I dreamed of
changing the world;
As I grew older and wiser I realized the
world would not change.
And I decided to shorten my sights
somewhat and change only my country.
But it too seemed immovable.
As I entered my twilight years, in one last
desperate attempt, I sought to change
only my family, those closest to me, but
alas they would have none of it.
And now here I lie on my death bed and
realize (perhaps for the first time) that if
only I’d changed myself first, then by
example I may have influenced my
family and with their encouragement
and support I may have bettered my
country, and who knows I may have
changed the world.
I guess I could start studying up on depression, psychology, stress, and all that stuff. I’m already taking Psychology in school which I find so interesting, so that’s a start. And then there’s the internet of course as today’s best source for info. Perhaps I’ll start taking notes in a notebook or something.
I’ve decided I want to be a life coach for my career. Not a therapist who figures out the subconcious problems in a person’s life, but a person who literally becomes part of their patient’s life and helps to solve their problems and get them out of depression or stress or whatever. In my opinion, I think that so many people try to save the world today by cleaning up messes that other people caused: like feeding the poor and taking care of abused animals. Those are great things to do, don’t get me wrong. But I think it’s more important to train people how to handle problems themselves. That way, everyone could contribute more to this world and get along better and love life more. That’s why I want to be a life coach. To train people how to handle their problems and make themselves the best they can be.
I always have some sort of advice or comment on my mind when someone is in need of help. But being the “advice giver” in my group of friends isn’t really enough for me. I feel like I can do a whole lot more to make a difference in the world. But oohh where to start?
