It is a Malbec. I love Malbec reds. I had green salad for dinner and a plate of Red Hawk washed rind cheese with rice crackers. A fabulous dinner! Now I am having olives with the wine and it still stands out.

Dinner

YES! spicy garlic prawns cooked in sizzling olive oil. I had Basmati rice with it with a dash of sesame oil and hawaiian red sea salt. Now I’m having Tormaresca, a blended italian red wine ~ dark and licorice balance.

Love it!

My first taste of...  — 7 months ago

Kombucha

Wow~!!! It tastes like champagne with a bit of fermented – vinegary tinge here and there… but I like it!

Coffee!!!  — 1 year ago

I don’t try to think about coffee and caffeine. Each inidvidual has their threshold, that when you hit the max one can not be more buzzed. I do think however about the benefits of flavonoids, same thing in chocolates. It’s an element that contribute to healthy balance. My grand mother and grand aunt do drink coffee and I notice they don’t have it all day cup after cup. Just one in the morning and one in ther afternoon. On the other end, my mom got ill after she stopped drinking coffee. I just started drinking coffee five years ago. I only have espresso now, rather than a large tub of it. Here at home, I make a strong small press pot. I like my coffee hot and finish it hot. I’m after the taste not the buzz, the taste alone gives me a push. At this rate, I learned to drink it with pleasure, doing nothing but just that. Five minutes and it’s gone. I can do other things and not worry about reheating a stale cold cup. Coffee bean selection is a whole other thing.

Yeah! I've been slacking...  — 1 year ago

Well… I don’t think so. I just haven’t been writing my entries here. I’ve away from this site for a couple of weeks, actually away from the computer to put more time on other interests.

Lot’s of cheese, pastries and wine have I tasted and there’s so mush to write about. I think I’ve been handed the task at work to write about cheese and wine pairings. I’m starting off with 3 bottles of red from South of France. I will put them all here as I do the tasting of each of them.

Anyway, just a heads up to all of you who are waiting for updates (yeah right…), just keep in touch!

figs and cold smoked blue cheese!  — 2 years ago

wonderful combination! I had figs before with goat’s cheese and that’s a different texture than this combination. Which one do I like better? I’m for this one. This is my first taste of cold smoked blue cheese. Mild but flavorful.

breakfast from the Farmers Market  — 2 years ago

3 pan fried eggs (I did this myself and it’s not a new item), 2 croissants, and half inch piece of honey comb. YES! you read it right “Honey Comb”.

It was heavenly! Earthy sweet not like a sharp sweetness of refined sugar. I had it on the croissant with a few drops of melted butter.

Like I mentioned before, I don’t have sugar on my cupboard anymore and I have not used sugar for almost a year now, for anything for cooking at home at least. Honey I think is a better substitute. I have the pure raw honey in a 16 oz. jar, called Eggman Family Honey – $6. pictures later.

Alexander Valley  — 2 years ago

Zinfandel 2000… this is a bargain for a good wine. It’s by Nob Hill Trading. Sweet. Excellent table wine. Not for long mingle type wine. Nice with stews. Gets acidic the next day, so make sure to drink it all after opening. $4.

Medjool!!!  — 2 years ago

Farmer’s Market down at Alemany and I found Medjool Dates! It’s like eating sweet and soft bean cakes. These are bite size, one is enough for a mouthful. I love it.

I will dare to test it out with chevre cheese!

Oh! they are like warm tasting figs is what they are…

Ah… dreaming of mission figs now.

Enjoy Life boys and girls!!!

Medjool Dates – $3 per lbs.

Nan  — 2 years ago

Suchi’s Pumpkin layer Nan… for lunch. I also bought a bag of this deep fried wrap of a rice and curry mix I forgot to ask what he calls it. The Nan was exceptional. Have not had Nan for years. Packed up the rest of it in foil for future consumption. Yummy.
