Frank says it will never happen. That’s reason enough to do it. What galls me is that he’s probably right. I recently considered throwing away my penguin jigsaw instead of hanging it in my office. But I changed my mind and when I spruce up my office, I am going to hang it as a reminder. My financial position is currently bleak. I am determined to move through this situation with as much grace and optimism as I can muster. I am also unsure whether we can ever recover. If not, then I don’t see that I will be able to make such a costly trip. But nothing is certain, and I might find some unforeseen opportunity that gives me money to burn. I just can’t see the future from where I’m sitting at the moment.

Carol Thompson suggests I write a grant and go to Antarctica as a teacher. I can go and get paid. Target date, early 2012. This year I can look into sources of grant money and how to teach online.
