Well, firebird2110 said babies like contrast. Hopefully it won’t harm the baby’s eyesight. (It almost blew the CCD thingie right out of my digital camera.)
I hope the baby’s mother likes it!
Phew. That was a lot of work. (It’s 30×30 inches – 75×75cm and as Carl Sagan might have put it “billions and billions” of balls of yarn were used in the making.)
Ah, the glory of achievement!

Finally found some nice non-yucky colored yarn. It’s mostly cotton, with a little bit of mystery fiber that the lady in the shop said would be fine for a baby. What was it… polymide? It sounds deadly, but she said it was made in some sort of magical way that discourages allergic reactions.
Okay, it’s Saturday evening and the baby’s due on Monday. Let the mad crocheting marathon commence!!!

I can’t believe I’m really going to do this. It’s so not me. My friend will probably faint.
I still haven’t found yarn. Well, technically, I have. But the colors were vile. And I don’t want to go the pale pastel route. Ick. What’s with that anyway? I’m sure babies like a bit of excitement too. This is going to be a very exciting blankey.
I’m going to try another shop tomorrow.

Well, the title says it all! My best friend is due late November and I still don’t know where to buy yarn in this city. Do babies have special requirements? Maybe they don’t like synthetics or wool gives them a rash? I know nothing about babies. I just have two cats.
