I got paid for some articles today and put it all toward one of my cards! It sucks seeing all that money go toward a debt, but I’m the jackass that ran these things up so I can’t complain. But I’m getting there . . . One of them is almost paid off!
OK . . . here’s another $50 to my two cards. Once we get through tax season, I’d like to bump my payments up. I’d like to find a way to send roughly $10/day to my cards—which means I need to find ways to save $10/day. Some ideas I had were:
- quit my gym membership and workout at home
- avoid the tollway (that’s $2.00/day right there)
- pack my lunch instead of eating out
- get rid of my online memberships to ediets and yahoo music
Once I get my cards paid off, I can then apply this money to savings. But first things first. Let’s get these cards paid off!
I made another $100 to my two cards today. I also received an application for a card that will let me transfer my balances and pay 0% interest until March 2007. I’m thinking of applying just to move those balances to this cheaper card, and then cutting up that card (I’ve already cut up the other two). What do you all think?
I threw $100 each to my two outstanding cards. Man, it sucks to see hard earned money going toward these things. With each payment, I get closer to paying them off.
I put another $100 toward my cards today! Every pay period I’ll do what I can to chisel away at these amounts. I’ve decided I will write a book on the evils of credit cards one day. It won’t be dramatic and serious—maybe just a collection of stories from people how much pain, trouble, and misery these little pieces of plastic can really cause.
It’s kind of like taking troubled kids to prison, or showing smokers pictures of diseased lungs. Maybe if you show people how bad things can get, you can help them avoid the mistakes you’ve made.
We’ve been trying to cut our expenses, and at the end of the month had some extra money—which we’ve thrown toward paying off our credit cards. We’re getting closer to getting these things out of our lives! I can’t wait.
I called MBNA today and had them lower my card from a 18% interest rate to a 10% interest rate (I wanted 8%, but 10% is low as they would go). Credit cards are evil—someone should really right a book on their sinister nature. Hey, there’s an idea . . .
