So my class was last night – it was surprisingly small – only 10 couples, so that made it a lot easier. It went ok. It’s frustrating at times though – I ask them if they have any questions and they give me a blank stare and then when I get the comment forms back they put things down like “more positions on the birthing ball should be added.” Okay – like why didn’t you just ASK – and besides – how many figgen positions do you think there are!! Another comment was, and this one blows me away – Would like more information on epidurals – ok…deep breath – the class is to teach people how to avoid use of epidurals if you that is their goal. You don’t need a class on the epidural!!! You’re not putting it in – the doctor is!!! I already told them the pros and cons of the epidural – the class is a 2-3 hour breathing and relaxation class – not a Epidural class. okay…I should focus on the positive – all the rest of the comment forms were very good. It’s just when you are in a service based profession, like nursing, it gets so frustrating some times. Like, you can never please some people no matter how hard you work. Of course, the good people make it all worth while. But still. I wish I could just have ONE day where I could say whatever I wanted to (and not get fired or in deep trouble)! That would be so much fun. Like, the people that come to a 2-hour class, plan on being INDUCED and then tell me they are going to do this without pain meds…Ya wanna bet?!! You’ll be begging for something after the first 4 contrractions…how do I know this…because i’ve been doing this for YEARS!

So – my next class is on Tuesday – I spent a couple of hours finding music for the relaxation exercises. I’m nervous. Why did I volunteer to do this?! It’s always shocking how many people show up! About 40 or more strangers. All staring at me.
