wow – I actually took this off of my list because I didn’t think I would do it! Last Sunday I actually got up at 8 a.m. (although I had worked a long shift the night before) and went to church. I went to the Methodist church to the 9 a.m.
“contemporary” service. It was held in a “fellowship hall” and there was a band – I thought it was pretty cool. I did feel a little silly and out of place at first..but then I felt moved…I couldn’t explain it…I was so embarrassed because tears were flowing down my face. I hid that by acting like my allergies were acting up. I don’t think anyone noticed because there wasn’t anyone sitting around me. After the service I went to a Bible study and ended up in a “seniors” one because the leader of the 20’s to 40’s group wasn’t there. At first, I kept thinking about ways to escape..but then I started actually getting into the discussion a little and then when I was really getting interested..it was over. So, I’ll have to go back next week. Just to see.

My problem is that I’m Catholic and live in a small southern city full of Baptist churches. There is only one catholic church in town and I’ve gone approximatly three times in the past 10 years. I don’t enjoy going there AT ALL because it’s unfriendly and I get a horrible vibe when I go there. I’m thinking about trying the Methodist church or driving to a city 45 miles away and trying the Catholic church there. I really need to start searching! I just hate showing up and feeling so out of place. Maybe the Methodist church will be welcoming. It’s worth a try! I’ll have to go next week – i Work this weekend, so I’m going to pull it together and just go.
