Home stretch... 13 months ago

I’m on the cuff of the second sock, I can’t wait until I’m done!

Sock half finished 14 months ago

I’m turning the heel on the second sock, I should be done with the foot and on to the cuff in no time.

I gave the afghan to my Grandma and she loves it! She was so surprised and just kept going on about how nice it was. She even called me a couple hours later to tell me she was using it and it was nice and warm. I guess I really made her day!

Afghan is done! 14 months ago

I finished the afghan, and I’ve also got one sock completed. Now I need to start the other sock, and then I can check this off and start the new goal!

Success! 15 months ago

I finally found the skein of yarn I was looking for (took me about a year!). I’ve picked up the project it goes with again (an afghan for my grandma), and it should be done pretty soon. I’m thinking maybe another 2 repeats of the pattern, just enough that it’s longer than it is wide, and then I can knit the border and bind it off! YAY! I’ll post pics when I’m done.

I also finished a mitten that I had on the needles since last summer, though I’m not going to knit the mate because I didn’t like how the pattern turned out with the colors I chose.

Now I need to finish the pair of socks I started in June, and the Magical Earth shawl (from A Gathering of Lace) that I started two years ago. The socks should be a breeze, but the ME shawl is very involved. I’ve got about 4 repeats of the border completed, I need about 40 or so total, then I can pick up and start the center. It wouldn’t be so bad, but the border is a twining leaf pattern, and very long (26 rows? I don’t remember). I’m using a lovely fine Japanese lambswool and size 1 or 2 bamboo needles. It’s not a hard project, it’s just difficult to memorize the pattern so I have to keep a eye on the chart at all times.

I think, though, when I finish the socks I’m going to check ‘knit more’ off my list, and instead create a new goal: ‘Enter each knitting category at the county fair’. I’ve got a list of projects I want to knit, ranging from simple to very difficult, so I should be able to keep from getting burned out over the winter. I think I’m going to knit some mittens and hats to donate, but I’m going to have a separate goal for that.

Knitting 17 months ago

I don’t do a lot of knitting in the summer, unless I’m riding in the car, which I haven’t been doing much lately either!

I have 3 projects on the needles right now: an afghan for my grandma that I need to find the last ball of yarn for (I put it in a ‘safe place’ and can’t find it), a pair of toe up socks with a twisted rib cuff, and the ‘Magical Earth’ shawl from ‘A Gathering of Lace’ (I’m still working on the edging, 4th repeat out of 41)
