starting over in my own hometown

spending a lot of time with family is nice, but… all my highschool friends went away to college then grad school and never looked back.
the moms I meet at the playground have zero in common besides kids. I’m not exactly the church-going, scrapbooking kind of mom. sometimes I get to talk shop with the husbands when we go to parties – but the minute the kids need my attention all the techie conversation goes into the other room. sigh.
I know it will get better when I get a job. I just wish I had some girlfriends with some time during the day. I miss going out to lunch.
