Kicking off the personal training 20 months ago

My first paid session with my trainer tonight. We spent the session going through the routine he put together for me to do on my own in the future.

Tired, and a bit sore, but not too bad. (It will most likely be worse tomorrow.)

Still, I’m glad to have jumped on the wagon.



Positive personal trainer experience 20 months ago

I had a good time starting off the personal training last night. About 30 minutes of assessment and paperwork, then we worked out for an hour. I’ll be working directly with him 1/week, and he’ll give me a routine to do on my own a couple of more days per week.

So now as I push 40 I’m turning into a gym rat…



Starting up with a trainer tonight 20 months ago

So I took the plunge, and I’m meeting up with a trainer at the gym tonight.

It’s going to be a bit tough, since I don’t want to give up my Tuesday and Thursday aerobics classes, but I can’t sked trainer time on the weekends, since I’m gone a lot of weekends.

So I suspect I’m going to end up at the gym 5-6 days a week, doing resistance training MWF, and cardio T, Th, and maybe a session over the weekend.

I hope I can sustain that, from a schedule point as well as physically.



Not doing enough 20 months ago

I’ve been doing a pretty good job getting consistently to Zumba and Hip Hop, but that doesn’t seem to be enough. My wife has been working with a personal trainer one day a week and working on her own two more days, and is getting great results, so I may look at doing that, too.



Finally getting the hang of Zumba 2 years ago

After nearly two months one day a week I feel like I’m finally getting the hang of Zumba. There’s still some polish to be done, but I’m finally getting most of the footwork right, and able to add the arm motions in most of the time.



Hip-hop was great! 2 years ago

I really enjoyed the hip-hop class, but couldn’t manage body sculpt afterwards. Maybe after a few weeks when I’ve gotten used to it.

I’m going to try the hip-hop class at the gym tomorrow night. I don’t know if I’ll manage to do that and body sculpt immediately after, but I’ll see how it goes.

The Body Sculpt class last night was great, but man am I beat. Hopefully it will get a bit better as I start getting in better shape, so I’m not totally wiped every time.

I’m just tired and a bit sore, though. I’m definitely not injured. I don’t think I’m overdoing it.

I got through the workout session with the personal trainer last night, and didn’t feel too bad at the time, but I am BEAT now. Tired, and a little sore. I don’t think I overdid it, and I’ve got no gripes with the trainer. I’m just too darn out of shape!

Well, nowhere to go but up.



Gym assessment results 2 years ago

Just got back from my assessment at the gym my wife and I joined. About what I expected, not as bad as I was prepared for. I’ve got a lot of work to do.

First workout training session next Monday.
