Well. Now we’re BOTH living back in the same country (and have been for about 10 months), we’re moving on the reno again!
We’ve basically finalized (did I say finalized??? I HATE the concept of finalized!) (Probably why I have NO ambition to get married…) the plans, and my partner has drawn them up via 3d Studio MAX. He’s now half way through the elevation plans (has done front & back) and THEN we submit them to a draftsperson, who will proceed to earn the easiest $1,500 of his life. (My partner constructs unbuilt buildings in virtual reality for a living. His plans are accurate to within 5mm!) THEN we submit them to the city council. And wait.

Yup, and it’s kinda needed renovation for all of that time! Last year we FINALLLY came up with a plan we both liked for the upstairs of the house! Yay! It involves moving the bathroom & kitchen (which does, indeed, sound like hell on wheels), but it’s an old wooden house, so those things aren’t impossible. Given the bathroom & loo weren’t actually part of the original house (from what we can see), it doesn’t seem QUITE so ridiculous! And we don’t really have a laundry – just a couple old concrete tubs and washing machine in a space too small to stand up straight. I’m sure as time goes by this entry will be split up into smaller, more manageable entries like “raise the house”, “move the bathroom”, ” build internal stairs”
