Watched The General tonight. It was very impressive to know that Buster Keaton did all of his own stunts in the movie. It was a silent film that totally held my interest.
Five left…
63. Cabaret (1972)
67. Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? (1966)
75. In the Heat of the Night (1967)
82. Sunrise (1927)
96. Do the Right Thing (1989)

Swing Time was incredible and I don’t even like dancing. I actually rewatched the first dancing scene 3 times. I can’t believe this movie wasn’t on the original AFI list while a piece of crap like American in Paris was on the list. As soon as I’m done with this list, I’m going to find other Astaire/Rogers films to watch.
The Last Picture show was unique and I enjoyed it. I think it might be even better when I see it again. And of course, it’s interesting to see all of those famous actors as kids…
6 left… The General is next…
18. The General (1927)
63. Cabaret (1972)
67. Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? (1966)
75. In the Heat of the Night (1967)
82. Sunrise (1927)
96. Do the Right Thing (1989)

Titanic…yep I’m like the only person alive who hadn’t seen it. I had seen the boat go down, but not the rest of the movie. DiCaprio was terrible; Kate Winslet was great. I’m not sure it warranted a spot on the list.
A Night at the Opera was surprising funny. In fact, I thought this movie was funnier than Duck Soup.
8 to go….
18. The General (1927)
63. Cabaret (1972)
67. Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? (1966)
75. In the Heat of the Night (1967)
82. Sunrise (1927)
90. Swing Time (1936)

Watched 12 Angry Men which was very good. It’s so naturally acted it seems like they did it in one take.
If you’re gonna watch Intolerance, you better plan three nights for it. 197 minutes of silent movie is a little rough no matter how good it was. I’ll just say it was better than I thought it would be and the last twenty minutes had my full attention.
Here’s what’s left:
18. The General (1927)
63. Cabaret (1972)
67. Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? (1966)
75. In the Heat of the Night (1967)
82. Sunrise (1927)
83. Titanic (1997)
85. A Night at the Opera (1935)
90. Swing Time (1936)
95. The Last Picture Show (1971)
96. Do the Right Thing (1989)

Sullivan’s Travels was pretty good. I’m glad they added a older comedy to the revised list. I laughed out loud a few times.
Spartacus was awesome. It’s one I’d watch again despite the length. I was surprised it was a Kubrick film, though, because it seemed to be in a classic epic fashion.
I should have liked Blade Runner. I wanted to like Blade Runner. But I didn’t. It just didn’t connect with me.
Here’s what’s left
18. The General (1927)
49. Intolerance (1916)
63. Cabaret (1972)
67. Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? (1966)
75. In the Heat of the Night (1967)
82. Sunrise (1927)

85. A Night at the Opera (1935)

Nashville = Boring and too long; bad movie
I’m a little scared that this was one of the highest ranked new movies in the ‘07 version of this list. It worries me about the ones ranked below it.

I watched all 100 and I’m glad I did. Lots of incredible films and a few busts…
Well worth it…

After watching “Rebel,” I decided to go ahead and finish off the list…
MASH was terribly disappointing…not really funny. I guess this is another movie that was included based on the “culturally important” criteria from AFI.
I am done with the list! Wooooooooooooooooooooo
I will finish later with a post of my best 10 and worst 10 which has been difficult to determine…I’m working on it..

I just finished Rebel Without a Cause, and I was definitely impressed. I think the first hour and ten minutes should be shown to every teenager. Most kids, myself included, thought that high school was everything, and didn’t realize that the world outside of high school didn’t care about your image.
The ending of this movie was somewhat of a cop-out for me. It didn’t seem to resolve the main conflict of the movie – James Dean’s “rebelling” against his parents.
I also rewatched Rocky this morning and I’m glad I did. I certainly didn’t remember the emotion of this movie. This is certainly an emotional movie, and I found myself wanting to punch things upon finishing… maybe that’s a guy thing…
MASH is my last movie and it’s sitting on the counter…now I’m searching for my next list…
