So I was getting REAL sick of bachelor food….my hubby CAN cook, but what he chooses to cook is a different story, and not all that healthy. I don’t always have time to cook in the evening, and he does the grocery shopping.
Here is what I did: bought one of those magnetic dry erase calendars and stuck it to the fridge. Filled in the dates for the month, and wrote in meals from my favorite easy cookbook, “Saving Dinner” and also added 3 alternate meals to the list. Included some nights for “leftovers” and “eat out” in the blank spaces.
The way it works is if we choose not to eat one of the suggested meals it gets rotated with one of the blank days or swapped with another existing day. This works well, as some nights we found we had leftovers when we didn’t anticipate it, or didn’t feel like having a certain meal that night.
So far this month we have only eaten out once, which is incredible….and it was one of the scheduled days. Hoping we can keep this up. When the month is done, I will copy this onto another calendar to recycle the meal order in the future.
I also may be able to plan several months in advance and have most of the grocery shopping done for those meals!
