A Zen accomplishment: Hottub Room! — 2 weeks ago
Picture of my hottub room complete with Tiki Bar!
The small back patio has been pressure washed and the table and chairs set up! I should be able to post a pic soon of the finished back patio….that is if I can fight hubby for the computer. Mine is officially dead, gone, toast, so getting on here next few days might be a bit more difficult!
Considering finding a water fountain for my back side patio….I think that would be a nice touch, and peaceful too. Also debating what we will do with the back patio. Half tempted to install a deck with some built-in raised beds, but need to think this through a little more.
Awesome deal….second hand books….Christopher Lowell’s 7 layers of Design and a book on Decorating Interior Spaces to drool over and inspire me on my outdoor room adventure.
I am getting a few ideas for the side patio already, but the back porch I need to think harder!
Fabric will be key, and I need to make a fabric store run for some bright tropical fabrics, and a pot run for some great ceramic pots.
This is the fun one. You can see the mess that has accumulated throughout the winter! I want to reclaim this space!!! The covered area has skylights in it. You can’t really see my potting bench, which is in the very back.
Again, any ideas I welcome!
Here is my dinky little back patio before picture….you can see the BBQ and the many pots left over from last year, the plants that produced into November! Here is where I plan to put my little round table with umbrella back, and tidy things up. I would also be welcome to any ideas!
The sides of the patio I am still debating about putting a few raised beds there….
Side patio before pictures will be posted in a few minutes…
Next step is to plan for my making my outdoor spaces comfy cozy! I have two places in mind….the first is my back patio, and the second is my side patio.
My back patio needs a bit more work as it is not very big, and last year it was taken over by my tomatoes. This year I need to reclaim it and put my table back early, and then decorate around it.
My side patio has real potential. It is a covered space, and I already have a bench there. I need to add some pillows, a rug, some hanging plants and candles, accessories, and get rid of the junk my husband keeps trying to store there, moving it to the other side of the house. I also need to tidy up my potting bench to make it a bit more attractive, and more efficient so I can use it. The rockery around the patio needs to be cleaned from autumn and winter debris, and the patio hosed down, de cobwebed, and add some more seating. I also may add an outdoor lamp, but I am undecided on that one. Vases of fresh flowers should be incorporated, as well as some cheap nature finds!
Losing that zen feeling in my home the last few weeks. I’m in dire need of a spring overhaul. Heck…I still have some fake poinsettias up on top of the entertainment center….definitely NOT ZEN….nor is the extensive man clutter that has taken over a quarter of the room…...
This is the weekend to regain it.
Spring to do….
Spring cleaning…
Swap out darker native rug for lighter palm tree print rug
Cover pillows with lighter fabric to match rug
Bring in some hints of spring..flowers
plan some good spring meals
air out house
declutter
My plans to seek a larger zen home have been put on hold…not a bad thing being my current hobbit hole is plenty cozy with lots of untapped unappreciated potential.
We are pondering the purchase of a newer and larger zen home…may have to start from scratch in the very new future on this goal…time will tell, and I’ll keep ya posted!
